The 2016-2017 school year has come close to its end. For seniors this proves to be a bittersweet feeling. This stage in life comes with fun times as well as times of struggle. Most students are ready for summer; seniors are ready to graduate. Their high school career is slowly approaching its end; at times it can get a little hard to maintain motivated enough to continue fighting for those passing grades. Senioritis sounds made up but in reality feels so real. From having a harder time getting up in the mornings to feeling ready to graduate and get it all over with most seniors agree, senioritis is real.

“(Seniors) get lazy, there’s so many projects that teachers begin to give out, especially in second semester”, said Senior Isis Carrasco.

Everyone else has said it, yet it’s never truly believed till it’s actually experienced. Through it all seniors must maintain motivated if they plan on graduating. This means getting work done, going the extra mile to find success and most importantly remain with a positive attitude.

This student had some advice to give on avoiding senioritis.

“Look forward to graduation and the next chapter in their life,” said Senior Aaron Montoya.

it is important for students to remain on task and push through the last six weeks of their senior year. After working so hard for so long, laziness and what is so called senioritis should not come between them and that diploma.

“You’ve put in all that time you can make it through the last six weeks,” said Odessa High Courage zone Counselor Griselda Lujan.

The end of the school year is near, yet not over with. Teachers and faculty cannot stress enough the importance of this time of year.

“Seniors tend to forget they aren’t really done until the end of the semester and stop putting forth the effort to stay focused,” English teacher Karen Morris said.

The end of the school year is almost here, students must find the encouragement and will to complete the year and overcome senioritis.
